Long-range DECT base plus one W79H industrial-grade handset, IP65 dust-tight and water-jet resistant, drop-resistant up to 2m, dedicated push-to-talk button, programmable function keys, PoE-capable base. The W79P is the cordless bundle for genuinely tough environments — manufacturing floors, warehouses with forklifts, outdoor crew use.
The W79P is the W78P with a serious upgrade to the handset. The W79H is IP65 rated — fully dust-tight and resistant to water jets — and drop-resistant up to 2 meters. It is the handset you give warehouse staff who are going to drop it on concrete, drop it in puddles, and use it next to running machinery for years.
The dedicated push-to-talk button is the standout software feature. For crews coordinating across a warehouse floor (dispatch, loading dock, stockroom), PTT instantly opens an intercom-style channel to a configured group — like a Nextel walkie-talkie but routed through your SIP system. Combined with the programmable function keys, the W79H acts more like a portable two-way radio than a traditional cordless phone.
Where it earns the $70 premium over the W78P: the IP65 rating vs IP54, the drop-resistance, the substantially better battery (100h standby vs 35h, 20h talk vs 17h), and the PTT functionality. For genuinely industrial use, those upgrades each matter independently — together they justify the price.
Where to skip it for a softer use case: office staff, retail counters, restaurants. The W79H is built like a brick (relatively) — heavier, chunkier, and clearly industrial-styled. For aesthetics-conscious environments, the W73H or W78H is the better-looking choice.
