Avaya filed bankruptcy in 2023 (for the second time), spun off its cloud business, and ended on-prem development for most of its product lines. Your IP Office, Definity, or Aura system isn't getting better. We migrate Avaya customers every week — let's talk about yours.
Avaya emerged from its second Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May 2023 with a strategic focus on cloud and a clear de-emphasis of on-prem PBX systems. Avaya IP Office, the small-business workhorse, is still sold but increasingly steered toward Avaya Cloud Office (an RingCentral-powered offering, not Avaya's own technology).
Avaya Definity G3 and the older Communication Manager systems went end-of-sale in 2019 with end-of-support phases continuing through 2024. Aura, the larger enterprise system, has a much longer roadmap but is being aggressively repositioned toward Avaya's hosted offerings.
Customers on legacy Avaya systems are paying yearly maintenance contracts that are increasing, getting fewer updates, and finding fewer certified resellers and technicians willing to support the hardware. The exit path is getting narrower every year.
If you're running one of these, we have a playbook for your migration.
Step-by-step. No surprises. Your existing Avaya system stays operational the entire time.
Send us a screenshot of your system manager / IP Office Manager. We'll tell you exactly what migrates cleanly and what needs reconfiguration.
Auto-attendant menus, ring groups, hunt groups, time-of-day routing, voicemail — we rebuild it in voip.army before the cutover.
Every DID currently on your Avaya system ports to voip.army for free. The cutover is fast (sub-5-second) — no calls lost.
Avaya J139, J169, J179 phones and most 9600-series SIP phones can be re-flashed to work with voip.army. We help. If your phones won't survive the move, we'll quote replacements (Yealink/Grandstream).
Decommission the IP Office or Aura system. Cancel the maintenance contract. Stop paying.
"Our engineering firm was running an Avaya IP Office system that hadn't been updated since 2016. The migration to voip.army was painless — they handled the porting, set up our IVR, and rehomed our J169 phones. Same handsets, modern back-end, half the cost."
