Should I buy a VVX 410 or VVX 450 for new deployments?

The VVX 450. Same color twelve-line layout, but the 450 adds two USB ports (for headsets, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth dongles), uses a faster processor, and tracks current UCS firmware. About $30 more.

Can I add an expansion module to the VVX 410?

Yes — the VVX Color Expansion Module (EXP 50). Up to three modules per phone, 28 multi-color keys per module across three pages, so 252 programmable keys with a full stack of three.

Does the VVX 410 have a USB port?

No. The 400/410 generation predates USB on Polycom desk phones. For USB headset support get the VVX 450.

Why the VVX 410 is on the catalog.

The VVX 410 added one thing to the VVX 400: gigabit Ethernet on both ports. For offices that ran gigabit to every desk — which by 2015 was most of them — this was the model that actually made sense. Same twelve lines, same color screen, same expansion module support.

We still carry it for SKU continuity with existing fleets. For new orders the direct equivalent is the VVX 411 (refreshed CPU, same gigabit, same chassis) or, better, the VVX 450 (adds dual USB on top of everything else).

Where it isn't the right phone: for new deployments, the 410's lack of USB is the main constraint. Anyone wearing a USB headset will be frustrated. The VVX 450 fixes this and is only about $30 more.
