The SoundPoint IP 650 is the HD-voice, gigabit-Ethernet refresh of the IP 600 — same six-line manager chassis, with G.722 wideband audio, dual gigabit ports, and expansion module support. The most-deployed late-era SoundPoint manager phone; supported on voip.army.
The SoundPoint IP 650 was the volume late-2000s manager-tier phone. Six SIP lines, HD voice via G.722, dual gigabit Ethernet (a big deal in 2008), expansion module support, and the same dignified SoundPoint chassis that small-business managers had become comfortable with over the previous decade. Released 2008, EOL'd 2016.
If you've got a closet full of 650s, you're not alone — this was the phone that law firms, accounting practices, and real estate brokerages bought in 100-unit batches. We onboard them onto voip.army's legacy provisioning VLAN running UCS 4.0.15. Expansion modules (the SoundPoint IP Backlit Expansion Module) also provision and work.
For new orders the modern direct equivalent is the VVX 411 — twelve-line color, gigabit, expansion module support, current UCS firmware. If you want greyscale and a lower price point, the VVX 350 is the rough equivalent.

The SoundPoint IP 650 runs Polycom UCS firmware 4.0.15 — the last release that supports this hardware. It onboards onto voip.army the same way as any current phone, just on our legacy provisioning VLAN because the phone's TLS stack predates modern web standards. Call quality is normal SRTP.
Boot, fetch config from our provisioning server, register, ready. About one minute on a normal internet connection.
Run up to 6 simultaneous SIP registrations. Each line key has a dual-color LED for status.
Bringing your own? Send us the MAC, factory-reset, plug in. No charge to add it to the fleet.
Last firmware Polycom shipped for this phone (2018). Still works perfectly on voip.army; provisions over our isolated legacy VLAN because the phone can't speak TLS 1.2.
PC pass-through port on the back lets you daisy-chain a single ethernet drop to phone and computer.
Class 2. Any 802.3af-compliant switch from the last 15 years will power it without issue.
Send us a CSV of MAC addresses. We add them to the provisioning server, you factory-reset and plug in, they pick up their voip.army config within a minute.
