A DECT 6.0 cordless handset with a 1.8-inch color LCD, 10 SIP accounts, dual-microphone HD audio, 250 hours of standby battery, and full backwards-compatibility with any Grandstream DP750 or DP752 base station. The DP720 is the handset — you need a base (DP750 or DP752) to use it.
The DP720 is the cordless handset half of Grandstream's DECT system — useless on its own, but paired with a DP750 or DP752 base station it gives you a roaming SIP handset with 50m indoor / 300m outdoor range and battery life that runs days between charges. We typically sell it as a 'one base, multiple handsets' bundle: one DP750 base in the office, two to five DP720 handsets for warehouse staff, retail floor managers, restaurant hosts, or anyone who needs to take calls while moving around the building.
Audio is HD via G.722 over the DECT link to the base, which then runs SIP over ethernet upstream. The 1.8-inch color screen is small but readable — caller ID, contact lookup, voicemail navigation all work fine. The dual-mic noise rejection on the handset is meaningfully better than the original DP710 (Grandstream's first-gen handset), which makes calls in busy environments (kitchens, warehouses, retail floors) actually intelligible.
Where it makes sense: any deployment where someone needs to take calls but cannot sit at a desk. Restaurant managers, warehouse foremen, retail floor staff, hospitality concierge, medical office in-room staff. Each handset registers as its own SIP extension (or shares one with hunt-group), and a single DP750 base supports up to 5 paired DP720s.
Where to skip it: if you need Wi-Fi roaming across a larger campus (DECT range is limited to about 300m outdoor in clear conditions; a Wi-Fi handset like a Grandstream WP822 or Yealink W74P would be better), or if you only have one or two users needing cordless and budget allows for a single 'softphone on a Wi-Fi smartphone' approach.
