Is the VVX 601's Bluetooth built in or via dongle?

Built in. The VVX 601 is one of the few Poly desk phones with native Bluetooth — no BT600 USB dongle required. Pair any Bluetooth headset directly from the phone's menu.

VVX 501 vs VVX 601 — what's the upgrade?

Larger 4.3-inch touchscreen (vs 3.5-inch), sixteen lines (vs twelve), gigabit Ethernet, two USB ports (vs one), built-in Bluetooth, slightly higher-grade audio path. About $100 more. The 601 is the executive choice; the 501 is the volume touch option.

Does the VVX 601 have built-in Wi-Fi?

No — Bluetooth is built in but Wi-Fi requires a USB Wi-Fi dongle in the rear USB port. If built-in Wi-Fi is a hard requirement, no current VVX has it; you'd need to look at a different family.

Can I run sixteen simultaneous SIP accounts on it?

Yes — the VVX 601 supports up to sixteen registered accounts. Useful for executives covering multiple personas: personal extension, executive assistant rollover, board line, vendor escalation, etc.

Why the VVX 601 is on the catalog.

The VVX 601 is the top of the VVX line — a larger 4.3-inch touchscreen than the 501, sixteen SIP lines instead of twelve, gigabit Ethernet on both ports, two USB ports (front and back), and crucially built-in Bluetooth so you can pair an executive headset without a dongle hanging off the back of the phone.

It's an unapologetically nice phone. The handset has a slightly heavier-grade transducer, the speakerphone is tuned a little hotter, and the touchscreen is fast enough that the swipe-through-pages interaction model actually feels good. None of that is essential, but if the phone is going on a CEO's desk and is visible to clients walking into the office, the 601 looks the part.

Where it isn't the right phone: for almost any non-executive desk, the VVX 450 (non-touch, color, gigabit, dual USB, twelve lines) does ninety percent of what the 601 does for $130 less, and most heavy users learn the hard keys and rarely touch the screen anyway. Specify the 601 deliberately, not by default.
